Project Manager

Reporting to: Operations Manager

At FAST Technologies, our people are our greatest asset. We are a dynamic, fast-growing engineering company that designs and builds custom industrial automation, robotics, and chemical delivery systems for global clients. We foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-energy environment where talented individuals can thrive and we support this with a four-day working week that gives our team more time for life outside work.

We are seeking a passionate, organised, and people-centric Project Manager to join our team and help shape the future of our delivery capability and workplace culture.

The Role

As a Project Manager, you will lead the full end-to-end lifecycle of new manufacturing and automation projects from initial customer engagement through design, build, delivery, and site acceptance testing (SAT). You will work closely with engineering specialists, automation teams, and mechanical build teams to define project roadmaps and ensure seamless transitions from concept to customer approval.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role where you will influence technical direction, drive operational excellence, and ensure every project delivers exceptional value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery across design, build, testing, installation, and customer acceptance, ensuring all automation, robotics, and manufacturing projects meet agreed timelines, quality standards, and technical specifications.
  • Apply structured project management frameworks (including scheduling, resource planning, risk management, and scope control) to maintain alignment between customer requirements, engineering outputs, and operational delivery.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders through clear communication, progress reporting, expectation management, and proactive issue escalation, ensuring cross-functional teams remain aligned and informed.
  • Run structured design review gates to validate concepts, challenge assumptions, identify technical and operational risks, and confirm production readiness, championing FASTs Design for Delivery approach.
  • Manage project budgets and performance, including cost control, variance tracking, forecasting, and KPI reporting, demonstrating commercial awareness and strong financial stewardship.
  • Collaborate across engineering, automation, and mechanical build teams, delegating effectively, resolving technical and operational issues, and driving continuous improvement in project delivery processes.

  • Strong engineering or technical management background
  • Proven ability to coordinate, prioritise, and balance multiple high-stakes activities
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project or equivalent)
  • Exceptional communication, documentation, and customer-facing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

Desirable Criteria

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline
  • Professional project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing qualifications

What We Offer

  • A four-day working week designed to support a healthier worklife balance
  • Continuous training, development, and upskilling opportunities
