CNC Setter Milling (3 & 5 Axis)
£15.00 per hour – 4-day working week – Friday overtime at 1.5x
We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business for an experienced CNC Setter Milling (3 & 5 Axis) to join their machine shop.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Setter with experience working in a tool room or CNC machine shop environment, looking for a hands-on role within an established engineering team.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Setting and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Working from setup sheets and NC program data to meet production requirements.
- Selecting, building and installing the correct tooling and hardware.
- Identifying and resolving machining and setup issues.
- Making minor modifications to NC programs where required.
- Inspecting finished components using precision measuring equipment and engineering documentation.
- Providing technical support and guidance to operators and apprentices.
- Carrying out routine machine and factory maintenance.
- Completing job cards and non-conformance documentation accurately.
- Carrying out post-machining finishing of components where required.
- Maintaining accurate engineering and NC program records.
- Working to high standards of quality, housekeeping, 5S and health & safety.
- Working with minimal supervision and using your own initiative.
- Supporting continuous improvement and training activities.
About You
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ practical experience in a 3-axis/5-axis CNC setting role.
- Experience within a tool room or CNC machine shop environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC milling machine setup and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
- Competent with precision measuring equipment.
- Strong machining-related problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Good timekeeping and attendance.
Desirable:
- Experience with Heidenhain controls.
- Ability to carry out console programming from engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of different jigging, fixturing and machining methods.
- Experience with CAM software.
- Good general IT skills.
Hours & Pay
- £15.00 per hour
- 4-day working week
- 7:00am 5:15pm
- Friday overtime available at 1.5x pay
- Additional hours/overtime may be available when required.
