Overview
In this role you will lead cost management for health, life science and research projects, shaping laboratories and healthcare facilities to enable discovery and better outcomes. You’ll work with cross-functional teams across the UK and Europe to develop robust cost plans, benchmark costs, and manage procurement. Your guidance will drive value engineering and whole-life costing, helping projects stay on time and within budget. Responsibilities
- Lead quantity surveying and commercial cost management across health, life sciences, and research sectors
- Develop detailed cost estimates, feasibility studies, benchmark analyses, and cost plans
- Drive procurement activities, evaluate tenders, negotiate proposals, and manage changes
- Provide proactive cost control during construction and handover, advise on value engineering
- Foster strong relationships with design, engineering, and project delivery teams; mentor juniors
Key requirements
- MRICS-qualified Quantity Surveyor or equivalent professional qualification, or substantial relevant experience
- Experience delivering medium to large-scale construction projects; healthcare or life sciences exposure advantageous
- Strong cost estimating expertise with knowledge of industry rates and benchmarking
- Proven track record managing projects from concept to completion and maintaining client relationships
- Experience using CostX and 5D BIM; open to adopting new technologies
