Overview
In this role you will advise on complex privacy matters for senior stakeholders across Goldman Sachs’ European operations, helping to scale and govern the firm’s global privacy program. You will collaborate across Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Risk and Business teams to address evolving regulatory requirements and emerging technologies, including AI. The position sits in the Global Privacy Office and offers impact through shaping governance, policies, and program delivery that safeguard data privacy. This is an opportunity to influence privacy strategy in a large, cross‑functional organization and elevate cross‑border compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic identification and assessment of privacy risks across Ireland and Europe
- Scale the global privacy program within EU jurisdictions
- Provide expert privacy guidance to business, engineers, operations and compliance teams
- Oversee privacy risk assessments (DPIAs and AI impact assessments) and related operations
- Review products and activities for compliance with Irish/EU privacy rules; assess AI-related tech
- Counsel cross-functional teams on privacy implications of new initiatives and regulatory changes
- Monitor and report privacy program status to senior management
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Risk and Business teams to assess impact of new laws
- Partner with Engineering to design new tools or improve privacy tooling
- Promote governance frameworks and privacy risk accountability across FDO
- Shape and advise on privacy policies/procedures to reflect regulatory expectations
- Contribute to other GPO activities as needed
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent; legal degree helpful
- CIPP/E certification highly preferred
- At least 7 years of experience, with at least 5 in Privacy/Data Protection
- Experience reviewing/advising/implementing privacy programs at local and global level (e.g., GDPR, Irish Data Protection Act, ePrivacy Regulations, EU AI Act)
- Financial services experience is a plus, especially in Irish/EU-regulated entities
