Overview

In this role you will lead data protection across People & Organisation and Health & Safety, shaping and delivering our privacy programme. You’ll advise on GDPR, regulatory obligations and contract negotiations, identifying risks and ensuring controls remain effective. You will train colleagues, monitor KPIs and represent the function in forums, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders. This position enables you to influence policy and drive responsible data practices across a complex, evolving business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on data protection across People & Organisation and Health & Safety, providing expert guidance on privacy requirements and regulatory obligations
  • Ensure data protection assessments are performed, risks identified and mitigated, and controls remain effective
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support training, awareness, and governance through KPI monitoring and corporate forums
  • Advise teams on GDPR compliance and wider data protection legislation; influence policy and best practice
  • Represent the function in industry groups and cross-functional initiatives
  • Act as trusted advisor to teams to clarify responsibilities and ensure data handling compliance

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in Data Protection, Privacy Compliance or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, data protection legislation and privacy best practice
  • Ability to analyse complex information and determine practical risk and compliance solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills
  • Experience influencing and advising senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of information security, technology risks and risk management principles
  • Bachelor or equivalent relevant experience
  • Industry-recognised Data Protection qualification would be advantageous
