Overview
As Construction Manager on the Area 7 account in Leicester, you will lead Minor Capital Investment schemes across highways and civil works, ensuring safe, on-time, within-budget delivery. You will manage projects from design handover through completion, coordinating subcontractors and stakeholders while upholding quality and environmental standards. You will work with Commercial and Procurement to support delivery and plan schemes to minimise disruption to road users. This role combines technical highway construction expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management to drive excellent customer outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Manage projects from design handover to completion
- Deliver works safely, on programme and within budget
- Provide regular progress, risk, and design issue updates
- Conduct site inspections and enforce safety controls
- Produce and maintain project documentation and records
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and environmental compliance
- Attend project, programme and health and safety meetings
- Identify and mitigate project and site risks
- Collaborate with Commercial and Procurement to support delivery
- Plan schemes to minimise disruption to road users
- Coordinate supervision and resource requirements with other Construction Managers
- Ensure works are delivered right first time and without delays
- Support measurement and valuation activities
- Provide lessons learned and project feedback to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Chapter 8, DMRB, MCHW and all health and safety legislation
Key requirements
- Experience managing highways, civils, structures or maintenance projects
- Strong understanding of construction delivery within a highways environment
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- IOSH or SMSTS qualification
- CSCS Supervisory Card
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills
- Experience reviewing RAMS and Construction Phase Plans
- Knowledge of permit requirements and site safety practices
