Overview

In this role you will lead and manage commercial activities for long-term contracts within SGN’s Procurement & Supply Chain team. You will drive value through commercial excellence, process improvements, and strategic contract approaches. You will mentor a team of procurement and commercial professionals and collaborate with Legal, Operations and Finance to support senior stakeholders. This is a chance to shape contract strategy in a regulated energy setting and contribute to SGN’s net-zero energy mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage long-term and strategic contracts with a commercial focus
  • Lead and grow the procurement/commercial team
  • Enhance commercial processes and governance
  • Introduce value engineering to improve value and efficiency
  • Develop and lead sustainable contract strategies
  • Administer contracts across NEC3/4 and bespoke agreements on construction/infrastructure projects
  • Prepare tender documentation including draft contracts and bills of quantities
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders (Legal, Operations, Finance)
  • Contribute to reporting on commercial performance for directors and stakeholders
  • Identify contract risks and implement mitigation measures

Key requirements

  • Background in Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Commercial Management or Law
  • Degree level education desirable but not mandatory
  • Innovative commercial thinking for a regulated environment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver quality output
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel across the Southern network
