Overview

In this role you contribute to a multi-discipline team delivering real-time and safety-related software across UK programmes. You will help shape software requirements, architecture, and solutions, and ensure delivery through the full lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with systems engineering, formal test and other stakeholders, driving risk and change management. The position offers growth through diverse projects and a clear path to enhanced technical leadership within a mission-driven company.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate potential problems in systems
  • Develop software requirements
  • Contribute to architecture and design baselines
  • Develop software solutions and implementations
  • Change and release management
  • Technical risk and opportunity management
  • Liaise with systems engineering, formal test and management
  • Create software test plans and execute tests
  • Adherence to relevant software standards

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering real-time and/or safety-related software
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., TAL, C, C++)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, TACL)
  • Experience with systems engineering, software development, integration and test
  • Knowledge of configuration management in software engineering
  • Experience across the full project lifecycle from bid to delivery
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide clear technical direction
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; relationship-building
