Section Engineer

Overview

As Section Engineer on the Euston works, you will lead site engineering activities to keep setting-out and quality control aligned with the construction programme. You will develop short-term schedules, manage documentation and QA/QC, and coordinate with works managers, subcontractors, and client teams. You’ll maintain records and ensure safety and environmental standards across a high-profile urban rail project. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to shape critical structures while working near live rail and busy urban environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate site engineers to ensure timely setting-out and quality control
• Develop 4-week programmes with the site engineer and monitor productivity
• Prepare inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements with timely documentation
• Communicate complex information to works managers, foremen, gangers, workforce and subcontractors
• Flag non-conformances to QA, QS and client/designer/RE staff and track actions
• Maintain comprehensive records of resources and changes for additional works
• Procure Plant, Materials and Equipment via requisitions
• Keep accurate daily site diary including variations, attendance of subcontractors and site discussions
• Adhere to project policies and procedures
• Cover works across Euston Scissor Box, Headhouse scope, and Granby Terrace Bridge basement level until handover

Key requirements

• Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or HNC in Civil Engineering with vocational training
• Understanding of Engineering Principles
• Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
• Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, document control)
• Relevant CSCS Card
• Health & Safety and Environmental management training
• Presentation Skills Training
