Principal Engineer – Tunnelling

Overview

As Principal Engineer in Arcadis’ Geotechnical and Tunnelling team, you lead technically demanding tunnel projects across Europe and support tunnel asset management and new builds. You provide expert guidance to a multidisciplinary group, drive quality and sustainability, and engage clients to deliver high-impact infrastructure. The role blends technical mastery with leadership to shape innovative, sustainable solutions. Responsibilities

• Demonstrate detailed geotechnical and tunnelling expertise for design, methods, and construction practices
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to multidisciplinary teams
• Oversee projects: set goals, monitor progress, and ensure quality, safety, and sustainability
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to align on needs and expectations
• Contribute to development of sustainable, forward-thinking engineering solutions

Key requirements

• Significant expertise in geotechnical and tunnelling engineering
• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent)
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Proven experience delivering complex projects with focus on quality, safety, and sustainability
