Overview

As a Senior Procurement Specialist, you will own end-to-end procurement and subcontract activities across major projects, aligning sourcing with schedules and commercial goals. You will lead supplier negotiations, contract awards, and ongoing performance management, serving as a trusted procurement partner to project teams. The role focuses on delivering value through strategic sourcing, tendering, and robust contract administration within a highly regulated setting. You will mentor junior colleagues and contribute to SRM/SPM initiatives, shaping procurement in complex environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and subcontract procurement across projects and operations
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and sourcing plans
  • Manage full tender process including supplier selection, evaluation, and contract award
  • Draft, negotiate and manage subcontract agreements and terms & conditions
  • Lead commercial negotiations to secure best-value outcomes
  • Manage supplier performance and contractual obligations during project delivery
  • Support Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Supplier Performance Management (SPM)
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Commercial and Planning teams
  • Deliver cost savings, cost avoidance and supply chain improvements
  • Ensure compliance with procurement governance, contractual requirements and HSSE standards
  • Mentor and support junior procurement professionals

Key requirements

  • Strong commercial acumen with practical experience managing subcontractors in complex projects
  • Procurement experience in highly regulated environments (engineering, construction, infrastructure, defence, nuclear or major projects)
  • Understanding of subcontract management and contract flow-down requirements
  • Experience leading end-to-end sourcing and tendering
  • Ability to draft and negotiate subcontract terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of JCT/NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • Strong supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commercial awareness including risk management, forecasting and cost analysis
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
