Digital & Platform Services – Head of Applied AI & Data Transformation for Core Data – Executive Director

Overview

As Executive Director, Head of Applied AI & Data Transformation for Core Data, you will define and execute the strategy to manage, automate, and scale Core Data within the Commercial & Investment Bank. You’ll partner with Technology, Business, and Operations to ensure data is discoverable, consumable, and fit for purpose, while leading a high-caliber team to drive AI-readiness, data quality, and transparent access. Your work will enable value across Markets, Securities Services, and beyond through a cohesive operating model.

Responsibilities

• Define the Core Data strategy aligned with the CIB Data AI-Readiness framework
• Create an executable roadmap for agent-ready Core Data (discovery, entitlements, semantic context)
• Collaborate with Technology to make Core Data assets discoverable and usable by people and machines
• Register Core Data assets in the Compass catalogue and integrate into Fusion
• Shape exposure of reference data via distribution APIs to meet consumption patterns
• Establish semantic layers with business meanings, definitions, and relationships for AI consumers
• Identify and remove complexity, duplication, and manual handling in Core Data processes
• Develop independent data quality assessment capabilities with transparent reporting
• Evaluate and prototype automation approaches (rules-based, AI/ML, agentic)
• Reduce access friction and enable self-service for Business and Operations users
• Foster partnerships across Reference Data Product Owners, Operations, CIB CDAO Teams, Corporate Technology, and senior leadership
• Lead and scale a high-performing team as business demand grows

Key requirements

• Proven experience leading data strategy, transformation, or a comparable senior role in financial services or a regulated, complex environment
• Deep understanding of core data domains and their role in downstream processes
• Familiarity with data cataloguing, metadata, and API design concepts
• Ability to translate complex data concepts into clear narratives for diverse audiences
• Experience designing or overseeing automation solutions for data management and workflows
• Track record of delivering through influence and partnerships across Business, Operations, Functions, and Technology
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to build from the ground up and scale capabilities
• Team leadership and people management experience, including scaling teams
