Business Systems Analyst / Developer

Reporting to the IT Manager, you’ll support and develop business-critical applications, helping colleagues resolve technical issues and keeping operational systems running effectively. This role combines hands‑on programming, application support and business systems improvement. RPG experience is desirable, but candidates with strong programming ability and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Full training will be provided as required.

The role

  • Maintain and enhance bespoke business applications.
  • Support systems across retail, hospitality, wholesale, ERP and finance.
  • Perform database maintenance and system monitoring.
  • Provide remote and on‑site technical support to users.
  • Work with internal teams and external technology suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Contribute to digital forensics activities when required.
  • Prioritise tasks according to business impact and follow issues through to resolution.

What you’ll bring

  • Third‑level education.
  • Strong programming ability and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience testing data, programs and processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with users at all levels.
  • A customer‑focused approach and the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • A current driving licence.

Desirable experience

  • RPG programming.
  • Software troubleshooting.
  • ERP and finance systems.
  • Warehousing, retail or EPOS software.
  • Windows Server.
  • Network architectures and protocols.
