Job overview
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will help protect patients, staff and visitors by providing expert health and safety advice across a diverse healthcare environment. Working across our hospital sites, you will undertake audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments, helping to ensure safe, compliant and effective services.

You will work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams, deliver training, support risk management activities, analyse incident trends and promote a strong safety culture across the organisation.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive health and safety professional who can build effective relationships, influence positive change and provide practical, proportionate advice. The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
- Experience undertaking audits, inspections, investigations and workplace risk assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and improvement opportunities from incident and audit data.
- Confidence delivering training and engaging with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute to a positive safety culture.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards)
Knowledge and Experience
- Health and safety experience in service or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- Experience using Datix, Ulysses or other incident reporting systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex health and safety information to a wide range of audiences. Ability to produce clear reports, policies, audit findings and investigation reports.
- Experience of presenting information to committees, senior management groups or Board-level forums.
