Company: Retail Company
Position: SAP Master Data Specialist
Contract: Permanent
Location: London
Salary: 55,000 – 60,000 GBP + 10% Bonus
Job responsibilities
Own master data end to end
Create, maintain and quality-assure master data across products/articles, customers, vendors, pricing, seasonal/assortment data and compliance.
Make sure data flows correctly from source systems through to our ERP and on to warehouse, e-commerce and other applications, so the business can order, ship, sell and report without interruption.
Products, pricing & seasons
Maintain the product/article master and support the seasonal product lifecycle, pricing and range readiness – understanding the commercial context behind each step.
Ensure product weights, volumes and dimensions are accurate for warehousing and shipping.
Customers & vendors
Set up and maintain customer and vendor records accurately, applying proper controls and segregation of duties to protect the business.
Compliance data
Own customs / commodity code data, product composition, packaging and producer-responsibility reporting, recognising the direct impact on cost, compliance and the ability to trade in Europe.
Take particular care with data that has downstream consequences if wrong – commodity codes, weights & volumes and pricing – given the effect on compliance, warehouse processing and margins.
Governance, quality & support
Uphold master data standards, governance and authorization controls, and drive continuous improvement in data quality.
Act as the go-to point of contact for master data queries, translating business needs into practical system solutions.
Help establish this capability in-house from the ground up and enable business teams to manage their recurring data over time, while retaining overall ownership and governance.
Experience
End-to-end retail process – Strong understanding of how a retail/fashion business works end to end – from product creation and range selection through pricing, seasonal planning, ordering, warehousing and e-commerce – and the business context behind master data, not just the system steps.
SAP master data – Several years’ hands-on SAP master data experience across product/article, business partner (customer & vendor), pricing and organisational data, ideally in a retail or fashion environment.
Informatica / MDM – Practical experience with Informatica (or a comparable MDM/ETL platform) – data enrichment, quality rules and distributing data to downstream systems.
Data integration – Good grasp of how master data flows from source systems through integration layers into an ERP and out to warehouse, e-commerce and other applications.
Compliance data – Familiarity with product compliance data – customs / commodity codes, product weight, volume & dimensions, packaging and producer-responsibility reporting – and its impact on cost and the ability to trade.
