A private family of four is seeking anexperienced and highly capable Live-in Travelling Housekeeper to join them on apermanent basis. This is a travelling position covering several privateresidences, with the family’s main home situated in Knightsbridge, London,alongside a country residence in the UK and properties in Switzerland andGreece. The family regularly moves between their homes throughout the year, andthe successful candidate will be expected to travel with them when required.The position would therefore be particularly well suited to someone who enjoystravelling, is adaptable by nature and is comfortable maintaining the same highstandards regardless of the location.

The successful Housekeeper will take pride inensuring the family’s homes are beautifully maintained and presented at alltimes. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail is extremelyimportant, with responsibility for the day-to-day housekeeping as well as thecare and organisation of the family’s personal belongings. The ideal candidatewill have strong previous experience within a private household and will beconfident working to a very high standard while respecting the privacy androutines of the family.

A significant aspect of the position will be laundry,ironing and luxury garment care. The Housekeeper will be responsible forlooking after a range of high-end and delicate clothing, ensuring garments arewashed, pressed, stored and presented correctly. Excellent ironing andfinishing skills are essential, together with a good understanding of differentfabrics and appropriate garment care. The successful candidate will also assistwith maintaining and organising the family’s wardrobes across their variousresidences, ensuring everything is kept in order and ready for use. Experiencemanaging clothing inventories or keeping records of personal items would beparticularly beneficial.

Travel preparation will also form an importantpart of the role. The Housekeeper will assist with packing and unpacking,ensuring clothing and personal belongings are prepared carefully for each tripand returned to their appropriate places on arrival. With the family travellingbetween several homes, the ability to keep track of belongings and maintain awell-organised approach is essential. The role will also involve assisting withhousehold errands and other practical requests as they arise, together withoccasional dog walking and general assistance with the family’s two small dogs.

The successful candidate will work alongsideother members of the household staff and should be comfortable being part of acollaborative team. At the same time, they should be capable of workingindependently, using their initiative and recognising what needs to be donewithout constant direction. Discretion, trustworthiness, reliability andprofessionalism are particularly important for this position, as is the abilityto remain calm and flexible when the family’s plans or location change.

The household employs a Chef, therefore regularcooking is not required as part of the position. However, candidates who areconfident in the kitchen and able to prepare simple meals or assist withcooking when necessary would be viewed favourably.

The family is looking for someone who isgenuinely experienced in private service and understands the standards expectedwithin a high-end household.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years’professional housekeeping experience, ideally gained within private residences,together with previous experience travelling with a family or working acrossmultiple properties. Excellent laundry, ironing and garment-care skills areessential, as are strong organisational abilities and a meticulous eye fordetail. Candidates should be fluent in English, hold the right to work in theUK and an EU passport, and be able to provide excellent, recent and contactablereferences. An up-to-date DBS certificate is required, although the successfulcandidate may be willing to obtain one if they do not currently hold one.

The position is six days per week, workingapproximately ten hours per day, with flexibility required around the family’stravel schedule.

Live-in accommodation is provided, includingduring periods when travelling with the family.

The salary is £55k+ gross per annum, dependingon experience.
