Job Description:

  • We’re looking for an experienced credit-risk professional to lead our New Business Originations strategy and a small team of analysts
  • The role will combine strategic ownership with hands‑on analytical delivery, translating complex business questions into clear recommendations and controlled strategy changes
  • The successful candidate will balance sustainable growth, profitability, credit performance and good customer outcomes within Jaja’s risk appetite
  • Optimise credit risk strategies for acquisition of new customers, balancing risk and reward to optimise profitability within business risk appetite
  • Lead strategy changes from initial analysis and recommendation through governance, implementation, validation and post‑implementation monitoring
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of analysts, setting priorities, assuring the quality of analytical delivery and supporting their professional development
  • Use tools such as SQL and Python to manipulate and analyse data
  • Promote a test‑and‑learn approach, constantly challenging existing strategies and processes to find better outcomes
  • Provide the business with data‑based insight and recommendations for improving decision strategies for new customers covering initial credit limits, policy rules, promotional offers
  • Perform detailed analysis on origination vintage performance trends to ensure new lending remains sustainable
  • Collaborate with a wider variety of stakeholders, including Tech, DataOps, Commercial Finance, Customer Service, and Compliance to ensure smooth delivery of strategies in alignment for forecasts
  • Maintain effective governance and controls including clear documentation, approvals, implementation testing, monitoring and escalation of unexpected outcomes or control weaknesses

  • A degree in a quantitative field like Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Computer Science
  • The ability to interact and work alongside key stakeholders at all levels across the business with attention to expectation management
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively
  • Experience in managing analysts
  • Extensive experience using SQL to extract and manipulate data, Python is a plus
  • Experience in clearly communicating complex analytical insights in a simple manner to diverse audiences, including both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical role, ideally in unsecured credit risk / credit cards
  • You are comfortable using a direct language and speaking in a straightforward yet respectful manner to save people time and simplify everyone’s workday
  • You care deeply about helping customers manage their money in a smarter way and want to make a tangible impact in the consumer finance industry, by applying innovative technology and processes
  • You are execution focused and love rolling up your sleeves to get it done – you are hands‑on, proactive and take solutions / process orientated approach to your work
  • You are self‑motivating and can switch between working independently to collaborating as a team with ease
