Who you’ll be working with

You’ll be joining a passionate, highly skilled team of software developers specialising in agile custom software development and enterprise-scale integration.

The team works across a variety of Open Source and proprietary technologies, with a strong focus on engineering best practice, innovation and delivering high-quality solutions for clients.

Role Description

  • Design, develop, unit test and implement complex multi-tier applications, taking ownership of software components from specification through to delivery.
  • Build scalable, resilient applications using Java and modern open-source technologies and frameworks.
  • Work collaboratively within agile teams, applying recognised engineering practices including Test-Driven Development, Pair Programming and Continuous Integration.
  • Develop modern applications using technologies such as Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, messaging and microservices.
  • Provide technical support during the transition of applications into live service and contribute to ongoing support and improvement.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and engineering practices, while contributing to a strong software engineering community.’

What we are looking for

  • Excellent knowledge of Java and core open-source technologies and frameworks.
  • Experience building scalable and resilient applications.
  • Experience with TDD, Pair Programming and Continuous Integration.
  • Strong experience with Spring, including Spring Core, MVC, Data, Boot or Cloud.
  • Experience with integration technologies such as Spring Integration, Apache Camel, REST and messaging.
  • Experience working within collaborative Agile development teams in a commercial environment.
  • Experience developing asynchronous microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of messaging technologies such as JMS or Kafka.
  • Experience with automated testing, including JUnit and Mockito.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Understanding of modern architectural approaches such as Domain-Driven Design, CQRS and Event Sourcing.

It would also be great if you have

  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript technologies such as ReactJS or NodeJS.
  • Experience with containerisation and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience working with open-source technologies and contributing to engineering communities.
  • A strong interest in learning new technologies and developing your technical skillset.
