Operations Manager (288dm) – Bridgewater- Hinkley Point – £75,000 Base – Accommodation allowance of up to £500 per week provided

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide senior on-site operational leadership at Hinkley PointC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership
  • Lead the resident operational, maintenance and support team and associated subcontractors.
  • Manage daily priorities, resource allocation and competing demands across planned maintenance, reactive works, projects and customer requests.
  • Maintain an integrated operational plan covering resources, access, outages, dependencies, work controls and delivery risks.
  • Lead operational meetings and ensure actions are tracked through to completion.
  • Provide leadership during incidents, service disruption and periods of high demand.
  • Escalate issues exceeding delegated authority, resources, contractual scope or risk tolerances.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary day-to-day operational contact for the customer.
  • Build effective relationships with operational, engineering, project, planning and assurance stakeholders.
  • Represent the service at operational meetings, service reviews and planning forums.
  • Manage customer requests, priorities, concerns and commitments through to resolution.
  • Coordinate clear and accurate communications during incidents and service disruption.

Team & Resource Management

  • Lead and develop the resident operational team.
  • Plan resources to meet maintenance, support, project and service-level requirements.
  • Manage leave, absence, standby and call-out arrangements to maintain operational resilience.
  • Ensure personnel are suitably competent, trained, authorised and supervised.
  • Conduct performance reviews, development discussions and support recruitment/onboarding.
  • Monitor workload, wellbeing, fatigue and team performance.

Operational Readiness & Service Delivery

  • Ensure work is properly planned, resourced and approved before commencement.
  • Confirm the availability of competent personnel, materials, tools, equipment, access and approved work documentation.
  • Ensure RAMS, WAFs, permits, isolations, technical approvals and other required controls are in place.
  • Coordinate interfaces between maintenance, engineering, projects, subcontractors and customer teams.
  • Monitor planned maintenance, reactive response, backlog, defects, repeat faults and service performance.
  • Maintain performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs and implement recovery actions where required.
  • Produce regular operational and performance reports.

Incident & Risk Management

  • Lead the operational response to major faults, service degradation and site incidents.
  • Establish clear priorities, communication routes, responsibilities and escalation arrangements
  • Coordinate service restoration, temporary arrangements and recovery activities.
  • Work closely with technical and compliance functions during complex incidents.
  • Ensure incidents are properly recorded, investigated and followed by corrective actions and lessons learned.

SHEQ & Compliance

  • Provide visible leadership on health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, WAFs, permits, site rules and approved procedures.
  • Stop or re-plan work where risks are unacceptable or operational readiness has not been demonstrated.
  • Support audits, inspections, investigations and governance reviews.
  • Ensure subcontractors and site personnel meet required competence, documentation and behavioural standards.

Subcontractor & Commercial Management

  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers within approved commercial, technical and SHEQ arrangements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, competence, delivery and compliance.
  • Ensure subcontracted activities are integrated into the operational plan.
  • Monitor resource demand, overtime, call-outs, subcontractor costs and other operational cost drivers.
  • Identify potential out-of-scope work and obtain appropriate approval before committing resources.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, variations and contract reviews with accurate operational information.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvements across planning, maintenance delivery, fault response, handovers, reporting and customer communication.
  • Use performance data, incidents, repeat faults and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into working practices, training and processes.
  • Promote accountability, early escalation and evidence-based decision making.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading an engineering, maintenance, technical service or critical-infrastructure operation.
  • Strong customer-facing and stakeholder-management experience.
  • Experience managing teams, workforce planning, resource allocation and performance.
  • Experience delivering planned and reactive works against SLAs, KPIs or maintenance requirements.
  • Experience managing incidents, service restoration, operational risk and escalation.
  • Good knowledge of RAMS, safe systems of work, WAF, permit-to-work or similar controlled-work environments.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and third-party suppliers.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including scope control, resource forecasting and cost management.
  • Strong reporting, communication and meeting-management skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and relevant work-management/reporting systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to meet applicable HPC site-access requirements.

Desirable

  • Previous experience at HPC, a nuclear licensed site or another highly regulated/critical infrastructure environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or higher-level H&S qualification.
  • SMSTS (Black Hat).
  • ILM, CMI or equivalent management qualification.
  • Managed-service, maintenance or critical communications experience.
  • Knowledge of radio, wireless, DAS, RF over fibre, IP networking or integrated communications systems.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and construction-phase interfaces.
  • Formal service, incident or continuous-improvement management experience.

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with out-of-hours escalation responsibility
