Tradewind Recruitment are working with a Primary School in Oldham. They are seeking a full-time teaching assistant/learning support assistant to support primary students in their SEN unit.

If you are passionate about helping young children and have a talent for positive behavioural management, this is the role for you.

About the role

As a learning support assistant/teaching assistant, you will:

• Support the social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs of students
• Be willing and able to deal with challenging behaviour
• Support the learning of children in the class, including individual, small and large groups
• Monitor and support children that have social, emotional and/or mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and possibly other special educational needs
• Support the students academically, socially and emotionally, encouraging positive behaviour and using positive reinforcement

You will need to

• Have experience as a teaching assistant/learning support assistant
• Believe in taking a holistic approach to the child’s learning journey
• Be calm and empathetic but able to set boundaries
• Be trustworthy and reliable
• Genuinely want to make a different to the lives of vulnerable young people
