About the Role
Herne Bay High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Tutor/Teacher to deliver GCSE English Language Resit lessons following the OCR specification for an external provider in Whitstable. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled teacher to support students in achieving success in their GCSE English qualification within a flexible and supportive learning environment. The post is offered on a fixed-term basis for the current academic year, with the possibility of extension subject to future need and funding.

10 hours per weekHours can be agreed around the needs of the provision and the successful candidate’s existing commitments
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging GCSE English Language lessons in line with the OCR specification.
- Assess, monitor and track student progress.
- Adaptteaching approaches to meet individual learner needs.
- Prepare students for examination success and build confidence in their English skills.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reporting.
- Liaise with the Head of Faculty and wider staff as required.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching English at Key Stage 4.
- Strong knowledge of GCSE English Language curriculum and examination requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage learners with varying levels of attainment.
- Experience teaching GCSE English Language resit programmes.
- Familiarity with the OCR GCSE English Language specification.
- Experience supporting students who require additional academic support.
