Job summary

Main duties of the job

Phlebotomy: In practiceProvide routine HCA treatments, within competence, to all patients to agreed practice policies, protocols and guidelines.Provide ECG screenings to practice patients within agreed protocols with referral to general practitioners as necessary.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide routine HCA treatments, within competence, to all patients to agreed practice policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide ECG screenings to practice patients within agreed protocols with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
  • Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
  • To carry out Health Checks to agreed guidelines using practice templates.
  • Ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care.
  • Maintain stocks of health information leaflets as appropriate.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and report any problems to the Nurse Manager.
  • Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, wound swabs, etc. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the general practitioners within competency.
  • Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
  • Ensure complete and accurate records of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients computerised medical records.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation and records associated with patient health care and registration with the practice.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings as appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • GCSE grades passes
  • Recognised HCA qualification

Experience

  • Experience of working within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
