Overview
In this role you will own the engineering side of turning new small household appliance ideas into launch-ready products under the Breville brand and other global brands. You will lead cross-functional NPD efforts, ensuring performance, quality, and cost targets are met. Collaborating with teams across PM, Marketing, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory and Supply Chain, you’ll solve technical challenges and drive successful launches. You’ll work with modern engineering tools and play a key part in delivering innovative products to market in a hybrid R&D setting.

Responsibilities
- Lead multiple new product development projects through Newell’s Stage-Gate process, defining timelines and milestones
- Translate customer insights into clear technical specifications and design requirements
- Create engineering specifications and lead DFMEA, DVP&R, and quality documentation
- Develop test plans and validate designs with internal/external labs
- Review manufacturing trial data and PPAP documentation; drive design, tooling, or process improvements
- Prepare and review Engineering Change Notices (ENCs); lead design and technical reviews
- Create basic CAD models (AI-assisted where appropriate) for early prototyping and concept evaluation
- Conduct IP searches and coordinate with legal for IP clearance and patents
- Analyze competitor products to identify opportunities for innovation, improvement, and cost reductions
- Assess safety, manufacturability and reliability with cross-functional teams; support product safety and quality
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Plastics, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience in product development, manufacturing, or engineering
- Practical experience with prototyping, design validation, testing, and problem-solving
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Creo) and ability to review 3D models and 2D drawings
- Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities within a stage-gate process
