Overview
As a commercially minded Financial Controller, you will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, delivering accurate reporting and robust financial control. You’ll manage group reporting, provide insightful variance analysis, and support decision-making with timely management information. You will lead a finance team, drive process improvements, and partner with operational stakeholders to enable growth and profitability within a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, half-year and year-end close processes with accurate and timely reporting
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet) and commentary
- Provide variance analysis identifying drivers and recommendations for stakeholders
- Oversee revenue recognition in line with standards and policies
- Ensure timely balance sheet reconciliations and resolve items
- Support statutory reporting and year-end submissions
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis for business decisions
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly/annual reporting packs to group finance
- Act as a key contact for regional and group finance teams
- Support implementation of new reporting processes and requirements
- Manage, coach and develop finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Maintain strong financial controls and support internal/external audits
- Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency in finance operations
- Partner with operations and commercial teams to translate data into actionable insights
- Deliver analysis on performance, trends, risks, and opportunities to drive growth
- Support finance transformation initiatives and system implementations
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Experience as Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role
- Strong financial reporting, accounting and balance sheet management
- Advanced Excel (PivotTables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP) and financial analysis
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
