Overview
In this role you will combine strategic public health leadership with operational delivery to improve population health across Essex and surrounding regions. You will steer a diverse portfolio of public health services, shape health inequalities initiatives, and drive sustainable service improvements within an employee-owned organisation. You’ll partner with system leaders to advance prevention, resilience, and high-quality care while expanding public health training in the East of England. This is a unique leadership opportunity with a strong impact remit.

Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of a diverse public health services portfolio with a focus on quality, safety, and outcomes
- Drive health improvements and reduce inequalities across the organisation and communities
- Act as subject matter expert on health inequalities and population health
- Lead business development including service redesign, tenders, retention bids and acquisitions
- Develop strategic partnerships across Integrated Care Systems, local authorities, NHS bodies and wider stakeholders
- Support resilience, emergency preparedness and health protection arrangements
- Develop Provide Community as a recognised Public Health training location for the East of England
- Provide senior operational leadership across a large portfolio and budget
- Deputise for the Chief Operating Officer when needed
- (for medically qualified candidates) act as Responsible Officer for the medical workforce
Key requirements
- Registration on GMC Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List or UK Public Health Register
- Significant senior leadership and operational management experience
- Expertise in population health, prevention and tackling health inequalities
- Experience leading change and transformation across organisational boundaries
- Strong commercial and business development skills
- Experience managing large budgets and delivering against quality and performance targets
- Outstanding influencing and partnership skills across health, care and local government systems
