Overview
In this role you will lead the structural design and technical delivery of nuclear and safety-critical facilities. You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to develop concepts, produce reinforced concrete and steel designs, and ensure quality and compliance. The position offers international project exposure from Glasgow or London, with a focus on delivering safe, resilient infrastructure for nuclear operations. You’ll influence design decisions and mentor junior engineers while engaging with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design of nuclear and safety-critical facilities
- Develop structural concepts from feasibility to detailed design
- Deliver RC and structural steel designs for buildings and plant structures
- Produce calculations, reports, specifications and technical documentation
- Support foundation, equipment supports, platforms and containment-related infrastructure
- Review outputs to ensure quality and compliance
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation teams
- Support design reviews, constructability assessments and engineering assurance
- Manage engineering deliverables to project schedules, budgets and quality
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to developing engineers
- Interface with clients, project teams, contractors and stakeholders
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; typically five years’ relevant experience
- Experience in reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, safety-critical building design
- Understanding of seismic-resistant systems, foundations and below-ground structures
- Experience in producing technical reports, calculations and specifications
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
