Senior/Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will lead the commercial function across multiple projects within a growing main contractor, shaping outcomes on refurbishment, fit-out and new build works. You will mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors, manage financial performance, and drive long-term commercial strategy to support business growth. The position offers progression toward Director-level responsibilities and a clear pathway to senior leadership over the next 5–10 years. You will work with clients, consultants and supply chain partners to deliver value, quality, and robust governance. Responsibilities

• Leading and mentoring a team of Quantity Surveyors
• Managing the commercial performance of live refurbishment, fit-out and new build projects
• Cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Preparing and agreeing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
• Procuring and managing subcontractor packages
• Managing variations, change control and contractual risk
• Ensuring compliance with JCT contracts and supporting NEC-based projects where required
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
• Supporting business growth and contributing to long-term commercial strategy

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager within construction
• Background in commercial construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects
• Experience leading or mentoring surveying teams
• Strong understanding of JCT contracts
• Knowledge or exposure to NEC contracts
• Excellent commercial, financial and contractual awareness
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Desire to progress into a senior leadership and director-level position
• Experience in healthcare, MoD, MoJ, public sector or framework environments is advantageous
