Overview
In this role you drive technical leadership and governance across a portfolio of properties, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient engineering delivery. You collaborate with site engineers, clients, and contractors to improve asset performance, sustainability, and resilience. You shape engineering standards and lifecycle planning while guiding incidents investigations and risk assessments. This is an opportunity to lead cross-disciplinary teams and influence building performance at scale.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across engineering operations to meet contractual obligations, service standards, and KPIs
- Support asset management strategies including CAFM data management, asset verification, and lifecycle planning
- Oversee high and low voltage electrical activities ensuring regulatory compliance
- Drive building performance improvement, energy optimisation, and sustainability initiatives
- Review proposed works for technical suitability and impact, advise on best practices
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Offer technical support and escalation assistance, including out-of-hours
- Align resources and competencies with operational needs
- Lead investigations into significant engineering incidents and perform root cause analysis
- Conduct audits and compliance inspections across sites
- Support development of EOPs, SOPs, and critical environment documentation
- Promote safe systems of work with permit-to-work, LOTO, and critical works management
- Monitor resilience and support testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing
- Produce technical reports, risk assessments, and recommendations
- Review plant performance to identify improvement opportunities and efficiency gains
- Ensure compliance with British Standards, statutory regulations, and industry best practice
Key requirements
- Senior engineering or technical management experience in hard services, facilities management, building services, or critical environments
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems
- Experience leading engineering teams, contractors, and service delivery
- Deep knowledge of statutory compliance, governance, and risk management
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and report-writing skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced setting
