Senior DevOps Engineer (DV)

Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will design, build and operate secure, cloud-native platforms on AWS to support critical defence services. You will lead DevOps best practices, automate infrastructure and pipelines, and work with cross-functional teams to enhance resilience and security. You’ll mentor engineers and engage stakeholders to drive platform engineering decisions. This role offers meaningful impact in a highly secure, enterprise environment and opportunities to shape deployment automation and observability at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
• Develop and enhance Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
• Build, optimise and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Champion DevOps culture and engineering best practices across teams
• Improve platform resilience, observability, security and performance
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects and senior stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities
• Support containerised workloads and cloud-native deployments
• Lead technical discussions and provide guidance on platform engineering decisions

Key requirements

• Extensive hands-on DevOps or Platform Engineering experience in complex enterprise or government environments
• Strong AWS expertise across core services, networking, security and platform design
• Proven experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• Strong CI/CD experience using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or similar
• Containerisation and orchestration experience (Kubernetes and Docker)
• Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash)
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions
• Excellent communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience operating in secure or regulated environments
