Overview
In this role you will lead the Affordability domain within Consumer Information, shaping product strategy and delivery across Open Banking, bureau-based affordability, and credit risk products. You will grow and coach a team of Product Owners, drive value-focused backlog management, and ensure alignment with Experian’s broader goals. You will partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to accelerate delivery while upholding regulatory and data governance standards. This is a high-impact opportunity to lead transformation in a strategic area of Experian.

Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the total product backlog for the Affordability domain, ensuring it is current, well-shaped and delivered at pace.
- Drive the domain product roadmap prioritising value, customer needs, compliance, and technical feasibility.
- Contribute to the product strategy and align delivery with corporate goals.
- Collaborate with partners across departments to maintain a clear product and technology roadmap.
- Act as escalation point for product-related issues across the domain.
- Lead the Scrum team’s end-to-end backlog management and translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives; uphold Agile principles.
- Make prioritisation decisions to keep the team unblocked and set the standard for product ownership in the domain.
- Lead and line-manage Product Owners, promoting AI-enabled approaches and coaching on backlog management, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.
- Establish and enforce standards for DoR/DoD, story quality, acceptance criteria, roadmap and release communications.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, development plans and performance conversations.
- Foster a collaborative culture where Product Owners share problems and solutions across squads.
Key requirements
- Substantial experience as a Product Owner in Agile environments with strong backlog management and sprint ceremonies.
- Experience leading or coaching other Product Owners
- Experience in financial services or FinTech, ideally lending, credit risk or affordability
- Track record of improving delivery quality and pace across multiple teams
- Experience working with distributed or offshore development teams
- Analytical skills with comfort using data to prioritise and demonstrate value
- Experience in regulated environments with compliance, legal and risk cross-function collaboration
- Experience of Open Banking, bureau data or credit risk decisioning products is highly advantageous
