Overview

In this role you will lead planning and delivery of temporary works and enabling packages on a nationally significant heritage project. You will coordinate design, subcontractors and site teams to ensure safe, on-time completion within a restricted live environment, while upholding historic preservation standards. You’ll drive programme certainty, manage interfaces across engineering, operations and commercial teams, and champion innovative methods that improve construction outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and delivery of temporary works, structural modifications and logistical activities
  • End-to-end delivery of cut-and-carve, enabling works packages with programme, quality and cost control
  • Coordinate design consultants, specialist subcontractors, temporary works designers and site teams
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes and mitigate risks
  • Ensure temporary works are compliant with statutory and project requirements
  • Interface between engineering, operations and commercial teams
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across client, consultant and contractor organisations
  • Oversee technical reviews, design coordination meetings and engineering workshops
  • Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Review engineering proposals and sequencing plans
  • Drive health, safety and environmental culture across workstreams
  • Ensure heritage, conservation and planning compliance
  • Support procurement and monitor specialist subcontractor performance
  • Prepare progress reports for senior leadership and project stakeholders
  • Champion innovation to improve methodologies and outcomes

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience delivering complex construction or civil/structural projects
  • Experience managing temporary works and complex logistical activities
  • Track record in cut-and-carve, refurbishment, structural alteration or heritage projects
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong understanding of design coordination and construction methodologies
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and project controls understanding
  • ICE membership at IEng/CEng or equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice
