Overview

As Data Science Manager at Morrisons you lead a small team to deliver data science products and initiatives aligned with business goals. You translate business challenges into analytical solutions and guide a 1-2 year roadmap, balancing hands-on delivery with strategic direction. You work with stakeholders across the organisation to unlock value from data and promote data literacy. This role combines technical execution with leadership, aiming to improve efficiency and EBITDA while shaping the analytics culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Scientists and Analysts with clear objectives and growth support
• Own delivery of complex data science products and models tied to strategic business objectives
• Shape and contribute to a 1-2 year data science roadmap aligned with business priorities
• Embed a lean, value-first culture to reduce waste and improve efficiency and EBITDA
• Champion data literacy and promote analytical thinking across the business
• Translate business problems into analytical approaches and deliver actionable insights
• Support the team with hands-on technical tasks including coding and modelling
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and other teams to ensure accessible data

• Comfortable in Agile and Waterfall environments

• Excellent stakeholder management to refine requirements and ensure value
• Expert SQL skills for fast, accurate data extraction and transformation
• Proficiency in Python or R with experience building, testing, and deploying ML models
• Experience delivering predictive or prescriptive models into production with MLOps knowledge
• Skilled in creating impactful data visualisations and dashboards
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, with Google preferred
