Overview
As a Credit Risk Senior Analyst within Citi’s Institutional Credit Management, you will assess and monitor credit risk for commodities-related clients, including traders and commodity sectors. You will support front-office origination with risk insights, deliver greenlight proposals, and contribute to periodic portfolio reviews. You’ll work within Citi’s Wholesale Credit Risk framework to ensure sound risk decisions and timely escalation of issues. This role offers impact across trading, lending, and derivative activities in a global institution.

Responsibilities
- Perform fundamental credit analysis of commodity counterparties using quantitative and qualitative factors
- Prepare Credit Approval Memos (CAMs) and assign risk ratings based on independent assessment and due diligence
- Monitor the covered portfolio continuously, tracking price volatility, supply/demand fundamentals, and geopolitical risks
- Review and recommend risk ratings across the Commodities Counterparty portfolio
- Support senior Underwriters on new transaction approvals, trade structure reviews, credit memos, and credit administration
Key requirements
- Proven credit risk management experience, preferably in commodities markets and derivatives
- Strong analytical skills to assess liquidity, leverage, and cash flow under volatile conditions
- Advanced understanding of financial statements, GAAP, and financial spreading
- Ability to form independent credit opinions and identify counterparty risks
- Experience with internal credit systems, templates, and financial modeling tools
- Relationship-building with senior stakeholders
- Effective written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences
- Ability to manage priorities under time-sensitive conditions
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
