Lead AI DevOps Engineer

Overview

As Lead AI‑Enabled DevOps Engineer, you will shape how AI integrates with production-grade software platforms. You will provide technical direction across AI-enabled software, APIs, and DevOps to drive secure, operable systems. You’ll modernise legacy apps toward API-driven architectures and define integration patterns between applications and AI services. This delivery-focused leadership role emphasizes architecture, reliability, and pragmatic decision-making in production. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, scalable AI-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across AI-enabled software and DevOps teams
• Set architectural direction for API-first design and platform enablement for AI
• Lead modernisation of legacy apps toward service-based, API-driven architectures
• Define integration patterns between applications, platforms, and AI services
• Make pragmatic decisions on AI integration approaches and protocols
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, data scientists, and platform engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, performance, and operability standards
• Anticipate and manage architectural and operational risks in AI-enabled systems
• Champion strong engineering practices across software development, DevOps, and platform engineering
• Lead by example in production-critical environments
• Deliver in a delivery-focused, not experimentation-driven, manner

Key requirements

• Senior or Lead Software Engineer, Lead DevOps Engineer, or similar hands-on leadership role
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: design, clean code, testing, maintainability
• Deep experience designing and delivering API-driven and microservice-based systems
• Proven ability to modernise or integrate legacy systems into modern platforms
• Solid development experience in TypeScript and Python
• Experience spanning software delivery, CI/CD, infrastructure, and operations
• Ability to influence teams without formal authority
• Balance innovation with pragmatism in production environments
