Team Manager – Quality Assurance

Overview

In this role you will lead a team within the Technical unit to deliver a high-quality product to customers. You’ll coach and develop staff, manage short- and medium-term plans with clear KPI targets, and ensure compliance with food safety standards. You’ll drive continuous improvement, control costs, and support site accreditations, all while maintaining strong welfare and attendance for the team. This position sits at the crossroads of operations and quality, enabling you to shape team performance and product quality in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Operatives with a coaching leadership style to develop performance
• Establish short and medium term plans and KPI targets
• Implement and ensure compliance with Technical policies
• Contribute to site accreditations where applicable
• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards comply with BRC and Morrisons standards
• Monitor and drive KPIs daily and weekly; take action to meet them
• Set performance targets and create action plans to improve performance and reduce costs
• Identify solutions and lead continuous improvement strategies
• Spot and develop talent through coaching and guidance
• Look after colleague welfare and improve attendance
• Allocate tasks, conduct daily shift briefs, and manage weekly technical labour plan
• Ensure compliance with raw material and finished product specifications

Key requirements

• Management/Supervisory experience within a large scale production/quality assurance operation
• Ability to challenge decisions and behaviours to ensure consistent service and problem solve
• Proven track record of people management and delivering strong results through a team
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence and challenge status quo
• Assertiveness with ability to make on-the-spot decisions
• Understanding of cost models and budgetary control; pest control management
