Overview
In this role you design mechanical systems and supporting infrastructure for nuclear power facilities, delivering safe, reliable solutions within multidisciplinary teams. You’ll work on new-builds, plant improvements and infrastructure modifications, applying practical engineering to complex systems. You will collaborate with clients and engineers to meet safety, quality and regulatory standards while guiding project execution. Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems and infrastructure for nuclear facilities (new and existing)
- Develop solutions for modifications, upgrades and plant improvements
- Produce calculations, specifications, technical reports and design documents
- Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and control disciplines
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, designers, suppliers and engineers
- Ensure designs meet technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements
- Manage engineering activities within budgets, schedules and quality expectations
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
- Contribute to design reviews, technical assurance and continuous improvement
- Support site surveys, plant assessments and client meetings as required
Key requirements
- Experience designing mechanical systems for nuclear power
- Understanding of cooling water, steam, piping and water treatment systems
- Strong documentation and specification skills
- Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines
- Good written and verbal technical communication
- Experience managing priorities to meet project schedules and quality targets
