Senior Legal Counsel (EMEA Product & Distribution)

Overview

Invesco seeks a commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to advise across products, services, and distribution in EMEA, with a focus on the UK. You will support decisions by navigating complex legal and regulatory matters and collaborate with global legal, product, compliance and regulatory teams. The role includes leading and mentoring junior lawyers and negotiating strategic agreements with major counterparties. This is a high-impact position enabling active contribution to product initiatives and regulatory strategy within a global asset management business.

Responsibilities

• Supervise junior legal staff, trainees, and external resources
• Provide broad legal and regulatory advice on Invesco’s products, services, and distribution in the EMEA
• Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of client and partner agreements (e.g., investment management agreements, strategic partnerships) across the EMEA, especially the UK
• Support EMEA product initiatives and other service delivery teams on legal matters
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on impact to EMEA products and distribution of funds
• Assist with regulatory inquiries, policy development, and contractual matters
• Collaborate with global legal colleagues to deliver commercially focused legal support

Key requirements

• Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction with right to practice in the UK
• Significant post-qualification experience in-house in asset management/financial services or within top law firm
• Proven experience negotiating complex agreements with large institutional counterparties
• Experience in international organizations is advantageous
• Experience advising asset management businesses is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of MiFID investment services, including portfolio management and investment advisory
• Knowledge of regulated investment funds and related regulatory framework
• Understanding of financial services and asset management industry
• Experience with legal documentation for investment management and distribution
• Awareness of current regulatory developments affecting investment products and services across EMEA
• Excellent written and verbal English; business-level German or Italian advantageous
