Overview

In this role you will oversee the CRCTU’s Business Support Team, ensuring robust HR, financial, and administrative services to support strategic aims. You will contribute to planning, reporting, and resource management within a large university clinical trials unit. The position emphasizes leadership, financial stewardship, and stakeholder engagement across the College and wider university. You will help drive efficiency, compliance, and development initiatives in a high-profile research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic planning and monitoring of CRCTU aims and funding processes
  • Lead the Business Support Team, including performance management and resource planning
  • Produce timely management information and financial/recruitment reports
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the University and Cancer Research UK
  • Oversee HR processes, recruitment, and staff development in the unit
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial governance of the CRCTU budget
  • Coordinate marketing/communications and ensure accurate information on CRCTU websites
  • Ensure compliance with financial legislation and operational procedures
  • Support sustainability initiatives and local policy implementation
  • Contribute to governance through participation in Operations Management Committee

Key requirements

  • Significant university/Higher Education operational and administrative experience
  • Experience in financial monitoring and reporting for research and non-research funds
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data and generate strategic reports
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of UK Higher Education and/or charitable funding mechanisms
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and organisational skills
  • Proven leadership and people management experience
