Overview

In this role you support the safe commissioning of major transmission projects across Scotland, ensuring all installations meet high safety and technical standards. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive compliant project delivery and participate in panels and reviews to uphold quality. The position sits within SSEN Transmission, contributing to a cleaner, secure energy future and the ongoing grid upgrade. Your work directly impacts timely energisation of substations and circuits across the network. This is a collaboration-heavy, safety-first role with tangible project impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support Transmission Operations to safely deliver projects and customer connections onto the SSE Transmission Network
  • Ensure compliance with STC, SSEN Technical and Quality Standards, ESQCR, Commissioning Processes, and CDM regulations
  • Develop and deliver projects to appropriate Technical and Quality Standards per the Project Commissioning Plan and identify improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain standards and regulatory compliance
  • Chair Commissioning Panel Meetings, Project Safety Reviews and attend relevant design, outage, NESO compliance, project assurance and programme reviews

Key requirements

  • Electrical engineering degree or relevant experience with strong knowledge of electrical power systems
  • Experience in the electricity Transmission industry with commissioning, engineering and construction knowledge
  • Understanding of STC Codes of Practice, Grid Code, Outage Planning, System Planning
  • Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Full driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the SSE Transmission Network
