Overview
In this role you guide and uphold health, safety and wellbeing across diverse sites, from water treatment to construction. You’ll act as the safety technical expert, shaping policies, advising on risk and incidents, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll partner with operations to tackle complex safety challenges and deliver training to raise competence. You’ll contribute to a culture of strong safety and regulatory compliance within a large utility environment.

Responsibilities
- Subject-matter expert for health and safety compliance and standards
- Develop and implement robust HSW strategies, policies and procedures aligned with UK law and best practice
- Provide expert guidance on risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
- Support operational teams with technical guidance on complex safety challenges
- Participate in audits and assurance activities to monitor compliance and drive improvement
- Engage stakeholders to maintain high safety standards and influence best practice
- Deliver training and coaching to enhance safety competence across the business
Key requirements
- Significant health and safety experience in utilities, construction, or other high-risk industries
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) and/or extensive practical experience; IOSH membership preferred
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
