Practice Manager

Overview

In this Practice Manager role you lead operations at Mexborough Health Centre to deliver patient-centred, high-quality care. You will work with GP Partners and the management team to ensure sustainable, efficient and safe services. You’ll shape governance, risk, and information systems while guiding a proactive, collaborative team through NHS changes. This is a hands-on leadership position with a focus on continuous improvement and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to support GP Partners in delivering a quality-driven service
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications strategy (internal and external)
• Create and uphold Health & Safety at Work policies
• Manage premises policies, insurance, and compliance with statutory requirements
• Oversee maintenance of property, equipment, and services
• Develop risk assessment policies including COSHH and Health & Safety guidelines
• Promote clinical effectiveness through audits and quality improvement
• Develop policies to drive continuous service improvement
• Lead risk management across clinical and administrative areas (Health & Safety, Infection Control, Equal Opportunities, Significant Events)
• Develop and monitor information management systems and optimise technology use
• Ensure IT systems are compliant with confidentiality and data protection policies
• Maintain robust IM&T policies and align with future information systems
• Collaborate with ICB data quality team for system developments
• Prepare for major events, ensuring timely service recovery per business continuity policy
• Prioritise workload, delegate tasks, and coordinate with partners when needed
• Support personal and professional development through events and professional bodies
• Note: duties may vary with guidelines, technology, or role progression
• Previous management experience and strong communication skills are essential

Key requirements

• General Practice experience essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Previous healthcare management experience desirable
• DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) required
