EOR Senior Payroll Specialist – UK & Ireland

Overview

As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will own complex UK and Ireland EOR payroll processes and act as a subject-matter expert for payroll tax and compliance. You will work cross-functionally to ensure accurate payroll outputs and drive improvements across the payroll lifecycle. The role sits in Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations, supporting scalable, compliant payroll for global customers. You’ll mentor teammates, strengthen controls, and partner with Product and Engineering to enhance the EOR payroll experience. This is a high-impact, client-facing position anchored in UK and Irish payroll mastery.

Responsibilities

• Own complex EOR payroll processing for the UK and Ireland, including inputs, approvals, corrections, off-cycle payments, and post-payroll review
• Serve as senior payroll and payroll tax SME for escalations (overpayments, redundancy pay, tax code issues, statutory documents, deductions)
• Create, review, and validate pay types, inputs, and configurations to ensure correct payroll and tax treatment
• Advise customers and internal teams on UK and Irish payroll requirements (PAYE, NI, PRSI, USC, auto-enrolment, pensions, student loans)
• Review and reconcile payroll outputs (payslips, filings, deductions, pension contributions, corrections)
• Strengthen payroll controls, SOPs, escalation playbooks, and knowledge resources; mentor payroll specialists
• Partner with Product and Engineering to implement durable improvements to the EOR payroll experience
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing and complex escalations, including audits and notices
• Support scalable payroll operations and ensure compliance across both markets
• Maintain documentation and quality-review processes to reduce repeat issues

Key requirements

• 5+ years of UK and/or Irish payroll experience in a client-facing, EOR, or multi-customer environment
• Expert-level understanding of UK and Irish payroll and tax compliance (PAYE, NI, PRSI, USC, PAYE Modernisation/RPNs, HMRC)
• Experience managing end-to-end payroll processing and complex escalations
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax treatment across pay types, earnings, deductions, and benefits
• Experience with EOR or multi-country payroll operations
• Excellent communication, analytical, prioritization, and mentoring skills
• Comfort working across operational systems and case-management platforms; Salesforce, JIRA, and Confluence familiarity is a plus
