Overview

As Principal Consultant, you lead the Data, Modelling and Analytics Team on Strategic Modelling projects in the UK and Ireland, acting as a technical expert and project lead. You translate client needs into data requirements, oversee modelling work, and present results to stakeholders, ensuring delivery on time, budget and quality. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and drive innovations in modelling practice. This role offers a chance to shape transport decisions that impact cities and regions at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead on small/medium projects
  • Deliver tasks to quality, time and budget
  • Specify information requirements directly to the client
  • Identify the information needed to deliver tasks
  • Review the accuracy of junior staff’s analysis
  • Manage stakeholder, client and cross-functional relationships
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and judgement in analysing information and presenting conclusions
  • Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in a broad range of methods, techniques and tools
  • Take responsibility for defined sections of SYSTRA reports and ensure project delivery to time, cost, quality and contractual requirements

Key requirements

  • Working with complex datasets
  • Transport or mathematical modelling experience
  • Experience in Strategic Modelling (Demand/Public Transport)
  • Proficiency in at least one of Cube, VISUM, EMME
  • Experience in Python and other coding languages, including development using defined best practice
  • AutoCAD design
