Construction Manager / Supervisor (Civils & Building)


Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire


Contract: Freelance / Contract


Rate: £350 – £400 CIS/LTD


The Opportunity


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Manager / Supervisor to support the delivery of a major construction project in Sheffield. This role requires a strong background across both civil engineering and building works, with responsibility for managing site activities, subcontractors, programme delivery and health & safety compliance.


This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on site leader who can oversee multiple work packages and drive projects through to successful completion.


Key Responsibilities



  • Manage and supervise day-to-day site operations across civils and building work packages.

  • Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour and suppliers on site.

  • Ensure works are completed safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

  • Oversee civil engineering activities including earthworks, drainage, foundations, reinforced concrete works and external infrastructure.

  • Manage building packages including structural, fit-out and finishing works.

  • Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings and safety inspections.

  • Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with project specifications.

  • Maintain accurate site documentation, progress reports and health & safety records.

  • Liaise effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Clients and Stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify and resolve construction issues to minimise programme delays.


Requirements



  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Site Manager or Site Supervisor.

  • Demonstrable experience delivering both civil engineering and building projects.

  • Strong understanding of site operations, programme management and subcontractor coordination.

  • SMSTS qualification.

  • Valid CSCS Card.

  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction programmes.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and subcontractors simultaneously.

  • Proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
