Full time, Hybrid (4 days in office) – London, West Kensington based
The Role
Kinly is hiring for its first Finance Manager. We’re looking for a qualified accountant with PQE in management accounting who wants to own a whole function next. You will be given significant reporting responsibility from day one rather than growing into it and pick up technical accounting, compliance and treasury work as we scale.
You will work directly with the FD and CEO building the machine and doing the work at the same time. In the first year you will own the transactional cycle end to end, produce monthly management accounts, and help implement controls and procedures as the business grows. The role suits someone who wants exposure and ownership early, rather than a strictly defined role within a stagnant team.
Accounts receivable
- Work with the sales team to manage AR.
- Reconcile receipts with bank and resolve disputes with the commercial team.
- Report weekly on collections and aged debtor profile.
Accounts payable
- Manage the purchase ledger: process supplier invoices and match to POs/Contracts.
- Run the payment cycle, obtain approvals, and make sure suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
- Manage employee expense process, including policy compliance.
Month-end close and management accounts
- Prepare monthly management accounts for review by the Finance Director.
- Review existing financial reporting to identify and eliminate departmental inefficiencies.
- Post journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation, deferred revenue and any recharges.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and improve the close calendar.
Working with the bookkeeper
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for our bookkeeper: set priorities, answer technical queries, and review their output.
- Over time, take on more of the review and less of the doing as the process stabilises.
Compliance
- Assist the FD to get the business ‘audit-ready’ and be the lead contact during fieldwork.
Systems, process and controls
- Identify manual steps worth automating and help select and implement the tooling to do it.
- Take a progressive view of AI in finance: find where AI tooling can safely remove manual effort in the ledgers, reconciliations and reporting, run small pilots, and set the ground rules for how AI-assisted work gets reviewed and controlled.
About you
- ACA or ACCA qualified with up to around two years post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience in a small or fast-growing company where the process didn’t exist yet.
- Exceptionally diligent and thorough in process execution.
- Exposure to a systems implementation or migration.
- Experience of a monthly close, whether preparing management accounts in industry or auditing them in practice.
- Comfortable with a cloud ledger (Xero, NetSuite, Sage or similar) and strong in Excel or Google Sheets.
Package
- Discretionary bonus of up to 10% of salary.
- Pension at 3% employer contribution
- 21 days holiday, plus office closure between Christmas & New Year, plus bank holidays.
- Professional subscription paid.
Hiring Process
- Initial screening:
- Intro call: Finance Director – 30 minutes on your background and what you’re looking for.
- Technical exercise: Finance Director – a 30 minute take away with a 30 minute assessment.
- Final meeting: Founder/Chief of Staff – a 30 minute culture fit assessment.
We are aiming to complete the process within four weeks and will give feedback from stage two onwards.
