The Opportunity

This is a client facing role with opportunity to establish strong relationships across our extensive portfolio of audit clients in the SME sector and comes with excellent prospects for career development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and scheduling of audits.
  • Ensure audits are completed within deadlines and budget.
  • Review working papers, testing, and documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve complex issues.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships and manage expectations.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Review draft financial statements and disclosures.
  • Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • ACA / ACCA Qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years audit experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Up to date with current auditing and accounting issues and conversant with relevant auditing and accounting standards, company law etc.
  • Good tax knowledge, in particular corporation tax. An awareness of VAT and payroll taxes advantageous.
  • Confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to think laterally to be capable of identifying potential problems and providing solutions.
  • Show initiative, exercise judgement and take ownership of issues from start to finish.
  • Experience of working on a wide range of clients (some FCA experience would be beneficial).
  • Computer literate including good Excel experience. A working knowledge of Iris and MyWorkPapers would be an advantage. Experience or knowledge of the Mercia audit methodology would also be helpful.
  • Willing and able to work under pressure and cope flexibly with demanding deadlines
  • Looking to progress your career and develop.
