Associate Director of Asset Management

Overview

In this senior leadership role, you shape and deliver asset management, maintenance and lifecycle investment strategies for a large university estate. You will lead a substantial team within Estates Operations and work to improve performance, sustainability, and value for money. The role involves managing significant budgets and driving transformation of maintenance services to support the university’s objectives. You will collaborate across functions to ensure safe, compliant and high‑quality facilities that enhance the student experience. This position offers meaningful impact through strategic estate stewardship at a prestigious research university.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement asset management, maintenance and lifecycle investment strategies
• Manage large investment and operational budgets for the university estate
• Lead transformation and modernization of maintenance and asset management services
• Improve operational performance, customer experience and value for money
• Lead a large team across maintenance and technical services to foster a high‑performing service culture
• Shape systems, processes and delivery models to be best in class
• Provide senior leadership across a complex, multi‑building estate
• Ensure safety, compliance and sustainability of over 450 buildings
• Deputise for the Deputy Chief Property & Facilities Officer when required

Key requirements

• Track record of senior leadership within Asset Management in large, complex estates
• Significant experience planning and managing built asset maintenance activities
