Overview

As a Principal Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer, you will lead independent verification and certification of E&I designs across the asset lifecycle. You’ll influence offshore and onshore projects, collaborating with clients, contractors and internal teams to ensure safety, compliance and fit-for-purpose assets. You’ll shape technical assessments, risk studies and verification reports while mentoring junior engineers. This role offers high-impact work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent verification of electrical and instrumentation design, installation and integrity
  • Review design, analysis, rating and selection of electrical equipment for offshore and onshore facilities
  • Assess compliance with project specs, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate E&I studies and deliverables across FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, modification and decommissioning
  • Review engineering drawings, datasheets, specifications, calculations and studies
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, FMECA and other risk assessments
  • Prepare and review technical findings, compliance and verification reports
  • Support surveillance, audits, inspections and witness activities
  • Engage with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders
  • Plan and monitor project resources, schedules and engineering hours
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

Key requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in oil, gas and/or process industries
  • Minimum 10 years on offshore projects
  • Proven experience in independent verification and certification
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems across lifecycle phases
  • Experience supporting life extension and ageing asset operation
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of IEC, ISO, API, NFPA, IEEE, BS/EN, ATEX, IP and HSE requirements
  • Experience with risk-based verification and certification
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, ETAP or equivalent software
  • Analytical with strong engineering judgement
