Overview

In this role you will service and commission NOV equipment at customer sites worldwide from a home-based UK base. You will diagnose faults across electrical and control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, and AC/DC power, often working independently or with multidisciplinary teams. The role centers on safety, quality and delivering reliable field support to minimise downtime. You will engage with customers, support installation and commissioning, and participate in training and development to advance technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, overhaul and inspect NOV equipment at customer locations worldwide, diagnosing electrical and control-system faults
  • Support installation and commissioning of NOV equipment and associated electrical and control systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot using drawings, schematics and diagnostics, including PLC and computer-controlled systems, AC/DC power and VFDs
  • Carry out repairs and minor PLC/software changes, ensuring safe, quality work
  • Respond to urgent operational needs and escalate significant issues to relevant NOV teams
  • Communicate progress, findings and maintenance recommendations to customers
  • Prepare service documentation including daily/ survey/ service reports and parts lists
  • Collaborate with Service, Engineering, Quality, HSE and other NOV teams to improve reliability and share knowledge
  • Promote safe working practices and adhere to HSE and quality requirements
  • Participate in product training, competency development and international travel to support customers

Key requirements

  • Completed recognised, time-served apprenticeship in an electrical engineering or electrical maintenance discipline
  • Practical experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault finding or repair of heavy machinery or automated systems
  • Experience with industrial electrical control systems including PLC and computer-controlled systems
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC power systems and VFDs
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills with ability to read engineering drawings/schematics
  • Ability to interrogate PLC systems and undertake minor software changes
  • Good computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Willingness for extensive international travel and offshore/onshore site work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to meet medical, safety and offshore certification requirements
