Operations, Controls Engineer – London, Harbour Exchange

Overview

In this role you will safeguard and improve the reliability of Equinix’s critical infrastructure across data centres, focusing on monitoring, automation and controls. You’ll collaborate with engineering, operations and technology teams to optimize BMS/DCIM and related monitoring systems, enabling high standards of uptime. The position offers cross-regional exposure and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. A strong emphasis on collaboration, problem solving and impact on mission-critical facilities underpins this opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Configure, onboard and validate assets, alarms and monitoring points in BMS and DCIM platforms
• Support power circuit monitoring within BCM systems and maintain electrical hierarchies with drawings and documentation
• Validate infrastructure metrics such as PUE and WUE
• Troubleshoot data quality and integration issues across monitoring platforms
• Support controls integrations, mapping, alarming strategies and data flows
• Identify opportunities to improve monitoring coverage and system performance
• Participate in commissioning, startup, testing and validation for controls deployments
• Collaborate with vendors, consultants and site teams to deliver controls projects
• Develop technical documentation, procedures and implementation standards
• Partner with regional operations teams and share best practices to improve reliability
• Support a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence

Key requirements

• Experience in controls engineering, building automation or critical facility environments
• Strong troubleshooting across field devices, controllers and supervisory systems
• Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, fire protection controls infrastructure
• Experience with BACnet, Modbus and OPC
• Familiarity with Schneider Electric PLCs and AVEVA System Platform
• Experience with data collection or historian platforms such as Kepware or Matrikon
• Understanding of IP networking concepts and basic network troubleshooting
• Ability to read Sequences of Operation, P&IDs and electrical schematics
